I found this Mazda they don’t sell in the states to be very good looking. Do they import this, new? For a tall car it’s futuristic and aggressive. I didn’t see the model.

Yep, CX-3, just revealed last fall. It will be coming to the U.S. & Canada as a ‘16 model.

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that Mazda is based in Hiroshima.

If I were in the market for a new crossover I would for sure go for that. My fleet is maxed out. They need to make a proper wagon with that design.

I don’t think so. I only see that in Japan. Mazda is pretty outnumbered by Toyota, non kei cars are dominated by Toyota and brands by them.

No Mazda6 wagon/touring/estate since 2008ish. Which really sucks because the new one is gorgeous, and not everyone needs tall cargo space like in a crossover.

The CX-5 and CX-3 are still high in my list for when the wife and I have kids, if only for ease of putting car seats in the back.

Ouch. Sorry.

I’ve just had a look at some of them on usnews rankings and reviews. They are slim pickings.

Other than the European cars and the Subaru they aren’t even estate cars but cars with a slightly larger than saloon car boot.

The Ford C-Max is a mini MPV.

I like the C-Max a lot. I wish we got it with the regular Focus powertrain instead of only either the hybrid or electric drivetrain.

I also wish we got the S-Max, B-Max, and Galaxy here, and the Fusion/Mondeo wagon/estate/longroof,/touring. Plus the Volvo V40, Jaguar XF Estate, Ford Falcon, Ranger, Everest, EcoSport, Territory, Land Rover Defender, more diesel options, and so much more.

We already have VW and Audi (plus Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bentley, of course), does Skoda offer anything those fellow VAG brands don’t?

I’d say better value for money and better thought out, just little things like an umbrella in the rear door, extra carry hooks in the boot, vastly more legroom for rear seat occupants, that add up to a big thing.

You could spec an Audi A6 and a Skoda Superb with the same engine, gearbox and all other options and still feel the Skoda was more practical and have $12,300 left in your pocket that you didn’t put into the Audi.

The Škoda Superb has claimed its biggest victory in a road test yet. Autocar magazine this week pitched the Superb against three rivals supposedly way out of its league – a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Audi A6 Quattro and BMW 750Li – and the Superb has beaten the lot. Reviewer Andrew Frankel said: “Škoda… has engineered the Superb blind to the knowledge that you can’t make a luxury car for less than Ł40k, let alone for only a little more than Ł20,000.”

The Superb beat the Audi and BMW for space, comfort and refinement, and ran the Bentley close in many areas. Frankel said: “Its ride quality is several streets ahead of the Audi, better even than the BMW and a close match for the Bentley.” He also praised the car’s cabin, calling it “a fine place to pass the time, thanks to the best driving position of the lot.”

The Superb’s all-round performance made it the winner, with the Bentley second, the BMW third and the Audi fourth. “[The Superb] has competed hard on merit, out-riding the BMW, offering more space than the Audi and refinement levels close to the Bentley’s,” said Frankel. “It is a proper luxury car, and for the space, comfort and quiet offered for the money being asked, it is the most impressive here. Škoda beats Bentley is an odd thing to write, but its victory is real and deserved.”
